Deadpool 2 actor T.J. Miller is working out a deal with prosecutors after being charged with calling in a fake bomb threat earlier this year. Miller was accused of intentionally giving false information to authorities after a March incident where the actor claimed a female passenger on an Amtrak train had a bomb in her bag. Miller himself was riding on a different train at the time.
The bomb threat incident was just the latest in a string of disturbing reports about Miller’s behavior. In 2016, the actor was arrested after assaulting an Uber driver who disagreed with him about Donald Trump. In 2017, Miller was accused by a woman of sexually assaulting her while the two were in college together in 2001. Miller’s firing from HBO’s Silicon Valley also led to reports about the actor’s inappropriate on-set actions, including allegations of bullying from actress Alice Wetterlund. Despite the controversy surrounding him, Miller was not cut out of this year’s Deadpool 2, though his role was rumored to have been altered.
As reported by The Blast, Miller is in the process of clearing up his latest round of legal issues. In April, the actor was arrested for the March incident in which he called in a false bomb threat against a woman on-board a train, and now according to court documents Miller and prosecutors are “discussing several matters related to the possibility of resolving the case short of indictment.” Should Miller go to trial, the charge against him carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

On the night Miller called in the bomb threat, an attendant from the Amtrak train he was traveling on told authorities the actor was intoxicated when he boarded, and proceeded to drink more while on the train. Miller reportedly became involved in a hostile exchange with a woman sitting near him in first class before being removed from the train. Authorities later said they believed Miller was motivated by a grudge against the woman who he falsely alleged was carrying an explosive device.
Just a few short years ago, Miller looked like one of the brightest comedy stars around thanks to his role as Erlich Bachman on Silicon Valley. Miller seemed on a path to genuine movie stardom after his role in Deadpool, which he followed up by scoring parts in last year’s critically maligned Emoji Movie, as well as 2018’s Steven Spielberg-directed Ready Player One and of course Deadpool 2. It remains to be seen how his legal troubles, and the other allegations against him, will impact Miller’s career going forward. He does have a role lined up opposite Kristen Stewart in the action-thriller Underwater, as well as a voice role in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.
