Justice League: Aquaman & Cyborg Get Stunning New Character Posters

Justice League heroes Aquaman and Cyborg each have a brand-new character poster from the movie, and they’re both stunning to look at as works of art. Jason Momoa turned heads with something of a breakout performance as Arthur Curry in Justice League, and he hopes to carry that momentum into his solo Aquaman movie this December. Ray Fisher, meanwhile, made his presence felt as the technologically gifted yet psychologically tormented Victor Stone, a.k.a. Cyborg.

After a disappointing box office run, Justice League is making an accelerated leap to home media, meaning more promo material is on the way, such as these two new character posters for Aquaman and Cyborg.

You can check out the minimalist-style posters below, via the official Justice League Instagram page. First is Aquaman, using a green & orange color scheme as it frames a shot of Momoa’s silhouette standing in the water, staring off into a mountain landscape. Next up is Cyborg, who doesn’t look so tranquil. He’s staring down some kind of war zone as a pack of what looks to be Parademons flying toward him. both posters feature an outline of the heroes as negative space containing the main illustration.

It’s unclear how either Aquaman or Cyborg will figure into other future projects within the DC Extended Universe outside of Aquaman’s upcoming solo movie. Right now Superman is thought to appear in Shazam!, while Man of Steel 2 is also rumored to be part of the upcoming DC slate. Not much is known yet about what’s planned for the Cyborg movie, but there’s a chance that it’s actually an origin story for Victor Stone and could arrive in 2020.

As for Aquaman, the likelihood is that Justice League’s underwhelming returns from critics and the box office did little to change James Wan’s Aquaman project, which is still expected out on Dec. 21. It remains one of the most anticipated movies of the year, despite the tenuous status of DC movies right now. The iconic brand also has some animated offerings coming out this year, but Aquaman is the big one.

So it should come as no surprise that with the calendar turned to 2018, Warner Bros. and DC are turning their attention to the future of the DC cinematic universe. The movie has good talent behind it and could represent a rebound from Justice League. And putting out a slick new official poster – one that looks quite unique compared to what we usually get for movie posters – can only help raise the movie’s profile. But at the end of the day, Warner Bros. and DC are betting big that Aquaman will get the franchise back on track after Justice League stumbled.
