Porgs Sing The Star Wars Theme Song In Supercut Video

A fan has found a way to have the Porgs from Star Wars: The Last Jedi sing the Star Wars main title theme in a new supercut video. Of course, the staple of every Star Wars film in the Skywalker family saga is the Lucasfilm banner, followed by the famous line, “A long time ago, in a galaxy, far, far away …” before the Star Wars title treatment bursts onto the screen. Accompanying the beginning of each Star Wars chapter, naturally, is legendary five-time-Oscar-winning composer John Williams’ iconic movie theme, which proceeds to march forth over the film’s opening scroll that summarizes the events before the pending space adventure.

The Star Wars main title composition is arguably is one of the most recognizable movie themes ever written, and with the pending release of Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, it has been given a new spin by a fan that in all likelihood has never been heard before. In a new fan-made video by Volpe Music, the Porgs – the furry, little sea bird-like creatures that inhabit a remote island on the sacred Jedi planet of Ahch-to along with the self-imposed exiled Luke Skywalker – take charge of the Star Wars theme. Fans’ biggest exposure to the creatures yet came in the new trailer for The Last Jedi Monday, which came with the rallying battle cry of a Porg accompanying Chewbacca in the Millennium Falcon.

Apparently inspired by the Porgs’ unique shrill and accessibility to it through The Last Jedi toys based on the creatures that came out on Force Friday II in September, Volpe Music has found a unique new use for the voices of caretakers of Ahch-To by having them sing the Star Wars theme.

The video shows Volpe Music put the theme together, starting with the sampling of a Porg’s “voice” from The Last Jedi toys and various clips of characters released by the film production so far. Aided by a piano keyboard and recording software, the Porg version of the Star Wars theme was born, and was made complete with its own version of the opening title sequence and summary crawl. Don’t worry, there aren’t spoilers, unless someone can decipher words “Porg Porg Porg …” throughout.

It’s wonderful that fans are having fun with the Porgs so far, especially since fans are worrying that they may end up being to The Last Jedi as the Ewoks were to Return of the Jedi. At least so far the cute creatures are being embraced by fans, as they will likely bring levity to what appears to be an otherwise very dark chapter in the Skywalker family saga.
