Production on Untitled Avengers is coming to a close with Scarlett Johansson and Elizabeth Olsen wrapping this week. Marvel Studios’ long game is nearing its end as Phase 3 inches closer to its finale. While there are still several films to get through before then, anxious fans are already looking ahead. Avengers 4 will close out the phase in grand fashion, as it follows up the events of Avengers: Infinity War. In order to do so, the studio has assembled the largest cast possible, making production an event itself.
The biggest stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe joined forces throughout the last year to complete production. What exactly the film will be about has yet to be revealed, but theories of time travel continue to run wild. Thanks to the unclear narrative, it isn’t clear which characters actually make it out of Infinity War arrive. But, we do know who some of the cast members will be, and a few more are done filming.
Confirmation came this week that Scarlett Johansson and Elizabeth Olsen finished filming Avengers 4. The confirmation of Johansson finishing filming comes from her stunt double Heidi Moneymaker. She shared a few photos on Instagram revealing she and Johansson are done. Olsen meanwhile shared a video on Instagram too from the set of one of Scarlet Witch’s flying scenes.
The reveal of Johansson and Olsen wrapping comes on the heels of Paul Bettany also confirming he is done. The scene shared by Olsen appears to actually be from Infinity War and not Avengers 4 however. Her surroundings look similar to the Scotland scenes she and Bettany filmed early in production. The setting was glimpsed in leaked Infinity War stills, and later teased in the actual Infinity War trailer. If that’s the case, her post doesn’t shed any light on the fourth film – unsurprisingly.
Moneymaker’s post on the other hand could add further credence to theories that the film includes loads of flashbacks or time travel. The photos from her post are from the Lagos sequence in Captain America: Civil War. Now, the photos could mean nothing and is simply a way for Moneymaker to share the news, while not giving details on Avengers 4. On the other hand, it could be the latest clue that the Phase 3 finale does include time travel sequences. That is mere speculation at this point, but the evidence is mounting if so. Considering Infinity War hasn’t even hit theaters yet, it won’t be until after then that more details on Untitled Avengers become known.
